OVERVIEW :
Dhorpatan Trek: Dhorpatan Reserve is situated on the southern flanks of Mt. Dhaulagiri lies on Rukum, Baglung & Myagdi District of western Nepal having area of 1,325 square Kilometer. The Reserve was established on 1983 and is the only one spot in Nepal where licensed hunting is permitted.
Dhorpatan hunting reserve is divided into six blocks for hunting management purposes. The reserve’s elevation ranges from 2,850m to more than 7,000m. It is provide excellent mountain views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range. Dhorpatan is the prime habitats of blue sheep, a highly prized trophy animal, which is the main target of hunters. Other game species are Ghoral, Serow, Himalayan Tahr, Black Bear Pheasant and Partridge. The area is rich on floura & Fauna. Fir, pine, birch, rhododendron, hemlock, oak, juniper and spruce are main species of trees in this Dhorpatan Trek area. This area is not only popular destination for hunting of animals but also to preserve it because this area is best place for research for Flora & Fauna.
